Summary
The article
“Children are stuck inside more than ever – how can we give them back
their freedom?” written by Harriet Grant , https://www.theguardian.com , 21 May.
2019, https://bit.ly/2HtCnNl is devoted to the discussion of children’s free time. They
spend time with their gadgets, not with their friends.
First, the author draws our attention to ourselves
and a big amount of time that we spent outside during our childhood.
Then he
analyzes what parents think about their children and their free time. Many
adults suppose their children don’t know how to play without gadgets.
He gives an
example of some families where parents understand the gravity of this problem.
Jack Sloan, a headteacher at Hanover primary school, tells about
this problem that “ Role play, being able to imagine a scenario; knowing
how to fall out and get on again. And the biggest loss is gross motor skills – children are weaker.” The author suggests that we can change
this situation and build some playgrounds. Parents also may take part in such
games.
This problem is related to families in the UK
and in Russia. So we have to be considerate to the children.
